Welcome to The Wood Acres School!


The Wood Acres School is an independent, non-sectarian school with a rich history of educating children, in a one-of-a-kind environment that instills a natural love of learning in each child.

Wood Acres students participate in an integrated program of academic, artistic and athletic activities that prepare them well to be responsible citizens and lifelong engaged learners.

Greetings!

As I sit down to write a letter of welcome and introduction to The Wood Acres School, I realize that this letter is actually a wonderful metaphor for who we are and what we do at this unique day school. We still write letters for one! We still value penmanship, homework, individual character and have high expectations for academic excellence. We mind our manners, care for our friends and respect our elders. We also surf the net responsibly in a first class computer lab outfitted with a wireless DSL line! We are reading from the latest accelerated reading series published and have begun introduction of algebraic concepts in our intermediate grades. Spanish is taught beginning with our three year old students throughout The Grammar School and The Upper School. We have enhanced curriculum on all levels and are blessed with a faculty and staff who view their positions as their life’s work and not just a job. We value play, recess, celebrations, tradition, and community. We are both a longstanding East Cobb tradition and a wonderfully fresh, dynamic environment for learning.

Above all else, we treasure our students and their families. We celebrate their successes and work diligently to solve any problems or concerns. We never compromise on academic rigor and excellence, yet we cherish childhood and all the fits and starts that come with an ever-changing young person. Wood Acres IS the place to be!
